About The Owner
Bryan Hawk
At a young age Bryan, was passionate about horses while growing up in Ohio. Starting with show horses in the quarter horse world, Bryan found his way the Oklahoma and Texas areas after College. Bryan worked double digits for a major local company and his recreation time was cattle and horses. Bryan still runs several other business locally and nationally, but his heart lies in the horse industry. He has several different Thoroughbred trainers including Joe Offholter and Boyd Caster. Some of his success as an owner came when purchasing some of Gary and Mary West's horses, while focusing his acquisitions in the midwest circuit. Code West, a winner of over $800,000 won many stake races in the region. He is now standing at stud in Oklahoma.
Meet Bernadean Sheets-Ryan
Farm Manager/Trainer
Accomplished horsewoman, Bernadine (Bernie) comes from Dunning, Nebraska. She has made her home in the Oklahoma City region since teaming up with Chuck Talliferro in the late 80's as an assistant trainer. One of the horses under Bernie's care was No More Hard Times (In picture), who won 18 races from 49 starts. His bankroll put him at just under $400,000.00, When he was retired in 1993. No More Hard Times was owned by Barbara and John Smicklas. After Chuck's premature passing, Bernie took a job with John and Barbara Smicklas. With the Smicklas she was their farm manager and was instrumential in several of their Oklahoma bred stakes horses such as Belle of Cozzene & Brush With Pride. When the Smicklas's downsized their operation, Bernie joined the team at Red Earth Training Center. In January of 2014, owner Bryan Hawk bought the property and kept Bernie on as the head trainer. Bernie contiuned to produce winners off of the farm, notably Code West, Pass The Buck and Popularity, who are all owned by Bryan Hawk. When she is not in the barn, Bernie spends time either on the tractor maintaining the track to perfection, or spending time with her daughters Spirit and Sage.
